VENEZUELAN RECIPE BOOK
Long-form Layout

The book covers popular dishes from different regions of Venezuela. From famous recipes like Arepas, to very complex and festive ones such as Hallacas.
The reason behind my design choices as well as the cuisine for this project comes from my roots. I took this project as an opportunity to showcase the dishes I grew up eating and cooking with my family.

Book Cover

The name, Más Que Una Arepa, translates to “More than an Arepa”.
Arepas are a famous Venezuelan dish. When asked what is Venezuela known for, Most people would say Arepas, when in fact there are so many other dishes that we don’t get recognition for.
Did you know?
The recipes in this book are more than popular recipes from my country. Each recipe represents a family member who cooked a dish for me. My parents, my sister, my grandparents, aunts, and uncles,... Each one represented by a recipe gives much more importance to this project.
The Illustrations (made by me), were inspired by Designer Reina Castellanos and her Target Latino Heritage Month Collection.
The colors used, and the order you will see them throughout the design, represent the Venezuelan Flag.
